Its not the fact that the media twist everything, its more to do with the fact that there will be black holes created inside the machine and when you hear this, if you dont understand it you would automatically think wont that be a threat. People who think this way just have to consider the LHC took 30 years to build, 1 person died for it and it is basically the worlds first time machine if you will, Im sure the greatest minds in the world havent got it wrong.

Oh, what a suprise, nothing went wrong.
That's why we seize the moment, try to freeze it and own it, squeeze it and hold it cause we consider these minutes golden.

Even if anything does go wrong which it wont, the size of the holes created means the world couldnt possible "end" for years and years.

It happened over 40 minutes ago, I think if some black hole was formed it would be on the news now, nothing has gone wrong...

Yes because the news is the root to all information :p They didnt do a good job in the run up to LHC, as noone knew about it even though its been around 30 years and cost 5 billion pounds. I personally believe nothing has went wrong, and dont forget it will be on for perhaps days now, its only doing one test and I would assume they havent waited 30 years to keep it on for 40 odd minutes to do one beam session

Most people who were like "OMG OMG I AM SCARED", really need to look at all the facts before believing everything they hear.
And do you mean they thought of it 30 years ago? Because LHC took around 13 years to build ...

Indeed, this wasn't the actual thing.

"Cern has not yet announced when it plans to carry out the first collisions, but these are expected to happen before the machine shuts down for winter."

My teacher said it's in October, dunno though.

Why would it need to shut down in winter?

Would be the perfect time imo.
