Commentaries with the Japanese voice actors? If so then that's a good plus. The extras on the Death Note DVDs are absolute crap. Why the hell would I want to listen to commentary by the English dub cast? Why the hell would I want to watch interviews with them? Why the hell would I want to watch a behind the scenes video featuring them? They have nothing interesting to say about the series. All they had to do was read lines off a sheet of paper. Where is the animators commentary? Where is the directors commentary? Where are the interviews with the Japanese cast? For a series like Death Note, these are possibly the worst extras I have ever seen on an anime DVD. Don't think they even include a clean version of the second opening and ending either, unless they put it on the first disc for some stupid reason. Way to go, Viz. You made the boxset for one of the most entertaining series ever absolutely boring. /rant

I swear you've been talking about your own forum for years. Personally, unless you have a lot of time, money and patience to invest in it, I don't thinks it's worth it. That is of course if it's an anime forum you're on about.

it is the english VA commentary lol :S BUT Funimation > Viz. Do have clean openings for all and the commentary is good. depending on what series your watching. One Piece for example some of them have watched/read it/knows what happens. FMA:B one is good aswell. Before Funi only had the clean op/ed so was a welcomed extra in my case. I know FMA Movie has 2 commentarys 1 from english and 1 from japanese.

I was planning to do a One Piece site and i was doing it all on my own, then my pc knackered and i lost all my pages. then couldnt be bothered. then 6-7 months later someone i knew fixed it and got my stuff back . Even tho its a one piece forum it be like habbox only a section for OP then the rest for others.

Passed out last night was gonna watch Sengoku basara blu ray shall do that now instead.

And why change the forum to italian? i dont like them.

Even if the English dub is good, I don't want to watch a commentary by the cast. They didn't take part in making the series one bit, all they've done is read from a script and can only assume what went on behind the scenes. Usually they have nothing interesting to say, and when they attempt to say something interesting it's either downright wrong or something everyone already knows. Commentaries should be left to those who actually know what they're doing.

I switched to the commentary in one of the episodes of Death Note the other day, it was during a scene where Light was taking advantage of Misa and all the dub cast had to say was "Oh Light, he's so awful!" Wow, thanks for letting me know.

The Evangelion commentary is even worse. I had a look at the English commentary for The End of Evangelion and the voice actors knew absolutely nothing. There's a scene at the end where blood is sprayed onto the moon and Eva Units are sticking out of the ground in a crucifix position, there's obviously a lot of symbolism in this sequence and one of the voice actors said "That's cool. I don't know what it means, but that's cool." Real helpful.

I also hate it when an American person labels themself as the 'producer' of an anime series. You're not the producer, you commissioned and oversaw the English dub. There's a huge amount of difference. It's all over MyAnimeList as well, someone needs to sort out the damn roles.

If they absolutely have to have a commentary in English, I don't know why they don't get an expert to do it. A lot of Kurosawa's old movies have experts on Japanese cinema doing the commentaries and they're actually really good.

I bet the Death Note boxset in Japan is full with so many interesting extras, but Viz are so cheap they got the dub cast to do what might as well be labeled as filler.

well i like funi voice actors D: there good and i listen to podcasts where they come on. ive heard the dn commentarys funi ones are alot better

Good times. Hear theres a a new Anime on demand site opening for the uk. somethign like £10 for 3 months of £35 year for the begining. Joint effort from.. MangaUK, Beez, Kaze, ANN. i think.. so should get some good series thinking about buying CR membership and AoD if it has decent series. One Piece = Insta Buy.

Might purchase a CR membership but the only thing I watch on there is Gintama so four episodes a month isn't really worth it :/

Can't wait for mania, won't be watching it live though. Hope miz retains the title.
