Rumours are there was only 1,700 on duty last night - this was Sky news around 2am.

There's plenty of Police - the issue is fear, we've lost it. Our justice system and our Police do not strike fear into the hearts of would-be criminals. Fear works, it makes people not do things out of a fear of being punished. I am against using the army and even water, but if the Police aren't going to use batons (no, not guns), run at rioters and give them a good crack (like our old style Police force before 'tactics' which do not work) then there's going to be no other option than the army which is something i'd hate to see in this country.

This is what happens when you have a Police service and a Justice system run on political correctness.

Both Sky and BBC recieve most of their main news from Reuters, just the BBC likes to defend criminals more so than Sky does.

We don't need that though (well we may do as we're reaching that extent), all that should have happened is that the Police should have ran, armed with batons and without the fancy gear and uniforms and grabbed each one throwing things and arrested them. If this would have happened at the start, it wouldn't have gone on like this because would-be criminals would see on television that it will not be tolerated.

But as I said before, our Police service isn't run on the mantra of punishment and thats the problem.
