Just to say another thing; if Habbox has gotten them nowhere then I would love to see the amount of people who would think different if 8Freak8 created a portfolio he could base it on the bases of Habbox from V2 and the Rare values script. To the Habbo Friends page which he built.

He has probably built up a nice little portfolio of scripts and designs for Habbox and has knowledge of Open Source CMS such as Joomla which could get him nice little freelancing jobs.

And as for it being 'illegal' not to meet the web standards of W3C then I think around 95% of the internet would have been shut down as most people code to IE standards which are around 8 years behind W3C..

Read the legal write up on the W3C rules before making such a comment. It may be illegal under the W3C rules, but in no way did I imply that they would shut down such sites, don’t make a argument in this discussion (which is it) unless you can back it up.

    2. Basic PHP, (FETCH, POST, UPDATE and the basics of algorithms (Which is what Habbo friends is, just simple database functions)) is nothing compared to the real opportunities that the language entitles you with. If in all this time you've only learned PHP you need to realise what you could have learnt more of and the other languages that you could use alongside PHP to real bring out its true potential.

    3. I personally, wouldn't walk up to a employer and say "Yes, I made a Habbo Fan site". Even though the scripts themselves MAY bring a little credit, they account for nothing at the end of the day, as harsh it may seem. Proven it this comment by the fact employer’s isn’t looking fully towards Uni graduates, but to those who have experience. So lets see, someone who has created a few "Habbo" PHP scripts, or someone who has a little amount of experience in coding, but past experience in the work place? Even you should know which of the two the employer would pick. Your as bad as those Habbos in the forums who believe because they've played on Habbo for a few months they can become paid moderators..

    4. As for I, I am purely expressing my opinion, a quick post here and there to see what kind of replys you people post it very amusing. You can no doubt see the up roar when someone says something "anti Habbox" and the doubt it brings into your minds. I love your optimism, especially you 8Freak8, I admire the fact that you have accomplished something, and kudos to you. But in a decade’s time when you’re entering the job market, Habbox will count for nothing.

This has been enjoyable hasn't it

I will admin you have some good points in there but just to say about the jobs market. In design terms or coding such as PHP and OOP they don't really care what the scripts entail as long as you can use advanced Database techniques with SQL and Oracle for other things; show advanced understanding of most statements such as IF statement and other basic things like arrays.

If 8Freak8 actually put Habbox on his list of portfolio then the emplyer would look at the stats and as he's one of the ones in charge of the web design section he would get lots of praise for the 4+ million hits that they've recieved, the basis of the site doesn't matter as long as you show understanding of all things to do with PHP.

For instance you could create a Database Driven Barbie site now with a nice CMS and everything and the employer may be curious why the theme but he will not knock off points on themes unless their job is to create to a theme based site.

I'm merely expressing my opinion and I can tell by your posts that you seem to know what your talking about so i'm not going to 'argue' over a forum as thats kind of immature and i'm just going to post to answer questions and critiques.

Apox, fortunately I have a lot of qualities that would make an employer want to hire me. I'm not the nerd you are imagining me to be.

Meh, its lazyness, as website can tell you alot from its design, Useing a premade or ctm basicly spells lazyness "/

Habbox as far as i know has more webdesign staff than any other habbo site? What exsactly do they do? Half of em coulnt write a valid sentance of html for ****, and the majorty of that half coulnt even write the invalid one "/

I know 8freak8 is perfectly capble of createing pretty advanced scripts (be it often slightly more avanced than has any practial useage, if i take his hitcounter as exsample), but he did quit habbox at one point, or at least the position as he coulnt be bothered to put so much time in to maintaing it (since so many of the webdeisgn team tend to be imcompitent thesedays). He comes back, and now theres a new easy to mange ready made ctm... Kinda seems like he may be convincing a few people its better to get off some work, which imo is a good idea on his part, since sirek aint got enogh brain cells to gain a clue in to how sites work anyway and just lives of the other peoples work "/

Many sites use Free layout yes, many profecanal ones. Usealy ones that Have nothing to do with webdeisgn, aint got a clue what there doing so just want to keep the online preasnats as simple and basic as possible, thats not a bad thing if you trying to do somthing which doesnt realy rely on the internet. Althogh its pretty stupid to have a webdesign team if thats the option your gona take, but meh.
Anyway ive had a nice little point lackin rant now, so im gona close up, gotta get back to tg5
