    I know letting your son die would be cold-hearted but, you have to balance your desires with others. Like the other guy said, ruining one family or 100? Balance your needs and desires with others. The son will soon accept your apology in heaven where he'll understand why you made your move of saving a train full of people, instead of your own son. I hope I will never in my life have to make a decision this hard.

    Just wondering, but at what point does it mention his son is even on the train track, or in danger at all, other than useing the words "save his son"

    His kid could be in a house or on a phone for all the detail given in the story.

    Also It mentions no problem with the locking mechinism, so why would him letting go of the leave unlock it, i mean did monkeys engine the track of what? if it locked fine, that would imply it aint gona unlock magicly eather...

    thurther more, whats stoping him from simply flagging the train down "/

    If the kid's gotten himself onto the tracks, surely it can't be difficult to just walk back off them again? Hold the lock shut and shout to your child.
