I'd do something original with the money, unlike the thread author.

The reason the idea isn't original is because some people realise that they still want their friends and want to make their life great too. I'd make my friends lives great over buying Micheal Owen any day.

Interest gives a sustinable income, something to fall back on if you squander the rest.
Plus a trillion is only so much, it may seem like alot compaired with common day exspenditure, but it can easly dissapeave very fast depedning what you want to invest in.
Take the (forgoten name) project, basic summary is that its a commecal GPS system, which will be more accurete, and is owned by eurpoean based companys, The estimate cost is around 6 trillion.
So that sort of things still way out of your leauge "/

I would buy a house and a car, invest some, put a little bit away for a rainy day. With the rest i would donate to a few charitys.

If I have a billion pounds I would make a MASSIVE mansion and my fave room would be the living room with massage reclining chairs and one whole wall will be a plasma TV screen where I can play an xbox 360 with like every game that was released..
Then i'd give like 5 million to charity..
