If you have to do something hand written, and you've got an incompetent teacher, you could always photocopy it, so you've got a copy just incase they do lose it. However, like other people, i do recomment typing stuff up on the computer.
I was in the same predicament last year, but nothing as bad as a . I had 3 lessons worth of DT work deleted from my school server (6 hours worth).
My teacher gave a really false apology, and I had to do the work again.
If you type your work up on computer, you should save it on the actual PC, and if you can, a memory stick or the internet.
Hope this'll help you
Did it end up ok Wayne.?
If not SHOOT 'ER, Dozy bint losing your coursework
Do bad things to the teacher on the desk. Call her a bad girl. Or not.
I can see why your teacher lost your essay , they have alot of books and sheets to mark each and everyday, if you saved it on the computer that might help, but if you didn't then you will proberly have to do it all over again unless your teacher finds it.

if a teacher loses any examination works then its between the teacher and the exam board and you shouldnt have to do it again
