I spoke to sierk about this a while back and he said no simply because debates are debated better when they are controlled . If everyone made a debate, some would not be taken seriously and some would be ignored etc.

Fair do's but its nothing more different to the discuss anything forum, except people won't post comments such as "ROFL yeh dats good!" its a formal section where things should be debated with a full answer/reply. Mods will still be able to mod it, to keep it under control, there will be a range of debates to choose from so people with different views can benefit from certain threads etc.

I can't see how not allowing it this way will cause any disruption...

In addition the problem of ignored debates, would be removed if certain usless rules were lifed in the forum, aka no bumping old topics, since in a debate forum, it would be pointless have 7 half finished versions of the same date, insted there should be one big debate, which can be brought back to the front when ever anyone has anything new to add to it.

    im totaly for open debates.

The one option on habbox that has been shown, to fail, time and time again, is the closed debates currenly operated. back when habbox had open debates it was all fine, with no problems "/
