Im bored so im commenting on whether i did this with my site or not
(habboplex.com)
MY COMMENTS ARE IN BLUE
First Ideas
- Make sure you have a clear idea about what your going to base it on.
(i had no idea when i started)
- Make sure you have enough money to set up your site.
(spose i did)
- Make sure you have enough time (Dont start if you have things happening at school e.g GCSE's)
(right in middle of GCSE's but i find the time)
- Make sure you have the full knowledge to make and set up your site.
(I had no knowledge at all when i started - now i have loads)
Helpful Tips
- Have another person to help you (Make sure you trust them!)
(did it by myself)
- Base it on a large audience (E.g dont aim it at people who play the recorder because it wont get poular)
(spose its a large audience
- Have a friendly community (if its just started you cant be to strict because people will lose interest)
(i try to be)
- If its a website add a forum or some sort of chatting program onto it (This will also make the site more active)
(im working on a forum)
When starting to make the site
- Get a domain that can be remembered, and not to long
(habboplex.com ?? dunno y i chose that)
- Get hosting thats been reccomended from a friend, or that you know are reliable and cheap.
(it was cheap£1 a month from tech-hosts
and so far no problems
)
- Get a layout which is attractive and bright (makes you feel happy:p)
(Still working on a decent layout - if any1 has 1 plz send)
- Think of something to add onto your site which will make your site special with someone no-one else has.
(im still thinking.....)
Finishing your site
- Make sure it looks good and will bring alot of visitors
(i try)
- Make sure people are going to stick around by adding things like games, news etc.
(working on it)
- Offer jobs, so the staff can bring thier friends to the site, but not to many!! You dont want the only people to visit the site is the staff.
(i had that problem - only ppl going on were staff)
Security
- Make sure the passwords e.g hosting are hard to guess, include numbers and letters. You dont want the site to get popular and then get hacked!
(new pass everytime)
- Dont give the passwords to anyone unless you trust them 100%
(never have never will)
Increasing Popularity
- Tell everyone you know about the site.
(i do)
- Advertise everywhere.
(i do)
- Don't advertise to much in the same place, it will annoy people and give your site a bad name.
(dont try to)
The End![/QUOTE]
