    The submarine cable is cut off December 26th (the fire) by the earthquake which in the night occurs with the Taiwan southern open sea, communication obstacle occurs.     I'm from Singapore and went to Taiwan 5 times so I can give you a more detailed explanation:

    Earthquake measuring 7.1 [According to US] or 6.8 [According to Taiwan] hit the southern part of Taiwan [Kenting], damaging 6/7 undersea data cables.

    Traffic from the US/UK has to be diverted to Australia and Japan. Hence its really congested and pages takes ages to load.
