UK usage

"Billion" has meant 10^9 in some sectors of official published writing for many years now, but this usage is not uniformly accepted. 1 000 000 000 000 is the "traditional useage" of a billion. Twenty thousand million (20 000 000 000) doesn't sound right, so it is twenty billion.

It's the second one, 1,000,000,000,000, the other one is rubbish as it's only a thousand million. If you look at the word, "billion," bi meaning 2, it means a million million. The other one, 1,000,000,000 is the American term and Americans are stupid. However as international currency is shown in $, we also use the American number for a billion when using money as it's smaller. I assume anyway.
