It's to stop scam sites.
Think about it, somebody created 'Habbo 2' so if they create habbotown.net they can put something like:

"To register your account before the town opens, please enter your old username and password to secure your position!"

Therefore gaining access to your hotel account.

It does "exist". By exist I mean it's a legitimate video. If it's a currently-existing project is something I don't know. But I do know at one point in time they were working on it.

May just be an old site that they registered to stop scam sites, in 04 "Habbotown" may of been a popular 'new' hotel scam.

There's a few other sites sulake own
