For some odd reason, sad songs cheer you up when you're sad. Like the lyrics in that song say: "you had a bad day, you sing a sad song just to turn it around" or whatever.

That isn't a depressing song to start with though, it's in a major key from what I remember. The idea of Jack Johnson is to be "feel good" music
