I can't remember a time when anybody liked the Habbox moderation system Looking at how some popular forums have dropped in numbers I do however believe the strict rules have helped HxF grow and remove the unwelcome guests.

I do prefer more of a common sense approach myself on things so if you get an infraction you don't agree with just appeal against it. I would hope all infraction reviews are done by common sense and not the letter of the law or else we will all be in jail like that woman and mohammed the teddy :eusa_whis

Sorry James, I don't really get this. Most of the people you consider 'unwelcome guests' get permed and come back under other names so
if forums are less popular it can only mean that that particular forum is no longer in fashion or people have left the forum. This seems to have happened a bit lately but mainly because the class of 2003 have gone onto other things in life. However I have noticed a big rise in numbers on the forum, lately.

Its a pretty good system providing common sense is applied as you suggest. I am sure that the forum management do a quality check on the standard of the decisions too particuarly if there are new Smods. I don't think the Teddy is in Jail ROFL

    Hey guys,

I understand were you are coming from here and I know that lots of people don't agree with the fact they receive infraction/warnings for accusing/naming other members of lying, scamming, ripping, hacking, stealing or anything else bad. The bottom line is that without this rule it would upset a lot of people as on many occasions people would be falsely accused of doing bad things they had not done. As for the fact some of you claim to be joking when you say this I do understand that people in real life may say "haha you liar" and may not mean to offend others but the issue with this is that on an online forum what may seem blatantly obvious to you may be hard for a moderator to notice and sarcasm and joking isn't always 100% clear.

Additionally if we'd let people joke about it whenever people receive infractions or warnings about the offence they would report it claiming it was a joke even if it was not. Additionally if a moderator cannot notice sarcasm or joking in a post it could be likely that the member(s) it is aimed at could take it the wrong way also. I tend not to give infractions and instead warnings if there is a chance it may not have been said deliberately to offend others and upset then however if you want to avoid these warnings/infractions it is simple, do not make rude or what could be deemed offencive comments about others and follow the rules. I am not trying to cause you problems and I do not pick on anyone. I simply enforce the rules set by the forum management and try to be as fair as I can in issuing them. I have no intentions of handing out infractions and warnings for the sake of it or to annoy others there is always a reason behind issuing these and each one is checked by another Forum Super Moderator to make sure it is valid. There are only 2 ways at this time you'd be able to see less of these infractions or none of them being distributed, 1) if people simply didn't break this set of rules or 2) if the forum management changed their minds and altered this rule.

This rule is here for a reason and it's to stop people form being upset that they have been accused of doing something they did not. Would you really wish to be called a liar or a thief and have nothing done about it? I certainly wouldn't.

Thanks for brining this to my attention guys, I'll take your comments into account when moderating.

    Thanks,

The people who return either change and become worthwhile visitors or they get permed again which shows something is being done. I used to use another less strict forum and they had a member shouting down everybody for at least 2 years and he must have lost them more members and put newer ones off. this is just my opnion
I heard they noticed the teddy was really female and because it was not in full muslim dress so they stoned it to death. (This is not racist before you start and if you don't like what I said take a look at the way some muslim women are treated by some of the rediculous laws)

Hmm the very few you speak of rarely reform and just get permed again and again. I can only think of one or two that actually did change, however that's my opinion too I agree about your second comment though and have always been in favour of cracking down on bullies although it is rarely as simple as that. New mods find it difficult to have a third way which is actually getting to know the members and corresponding with them on the same level. Compromise is good - authoritarianism is bad. This comes from experience though and a willingness to go beyond the rules.

Like I've said a few times.. I don't think that the rule should get sacked all together.. Obviously the rules are set and they HAVE helped in some situations, but I think that it should be lightened up a little bit. You can see (from people posting in this thread), that a lot of people are like "o y lie lulz" and then they get infracted.. that's CLEARLY a joke.. as jrh keeps bringing up "It's common sense". Believe it or not, you can tell when someone is joking.

    Example:
    liez haha - Joking
You GOD DAMN LIAR - Not Joking
    o y lie - Joking
    Oh, you're a liar. - Not joking

The way that I posted it should have been clear if you read any of the conversation between me and Earthquake. I wasn't attacking him or anything.. all it takes is a little common sense to see that

Back to the point.. the rule should be lightened up, easy as.
Yes rules are in place to keep people in check and yes, people can just "report the infraction" but majority of them aren't lifted.. so it's pretty pointless. If the rule WAS lightened a little bit, you can bet that members wouldn't be running around saying LIAR YOU LIAR !!! LIAR!!! as the consequences would be the same, unless they are clearly joking..

Haha, don't worry about it. However if you wish to get the rules lightened up moderators can't really do this as we have to follow a set of guidelines and although common sense does effect moderation decisions we cannot lighten up the rules unless the forum management choice to do this. Apologises for any problems I've caused but at the end of the day I'm only following the standard moderation scheme which I strongly doubt will be changed.
