    It is a soft subject.

It is soft otherwise Uni's wouldn't ban it.
They don't ban it... Lots of them offer courses that specialise in media. Just because it's a bit more vocational than it is academic doesn't mean it's "soft". It depends what you enjoy doing and what kind of future careers you're interested in. I also agree with whoever said that employers will look more favourably upon people who completed a university degree pertaining to media than someone who didn't bother going to uni at all.

Revise before you attend each class - also Ask the teacher, and if you can report the ART teacher to your Form Tutor or Headmaster?

Whether it's soft or hard in your opinion, the people who took it as a main career choice cannot get jobs in in.

At GCSE, it's not going to get you a job, but if you have an A Level in it, it can help you go to University to study it. Someone with a Degree, even in media studies, is more likely to get a job than someone who isn't.
    He's right

    You're wrong.

Taking this from someone who's in their 4th year of Media Studies (so GCSE first, then AS, now A2) and is planning to go on to do it at University (4 out of 5 applications of which were successful) it's going to be a very helpful, useful topic, because some people don't realise the diversity of media.
Media isn't just Tv, film & magazines. Media has now varied into a wide range of different area's. People use you for advertising, not just for television, but also for radio, the internet, newspapers. People use you for coding skills within website design (so ICT & media studies together is going to be a huge bonus to you in the future, anyone who is interested). People use you for radio technology. People use you for camerawork, either still images or moving image, even editing images (producing). People use you for Music videos, people use you for music cutting, people use you for film cutting.
And in Britain, do you see a majority of mainstream films being broadcast in cinema's as blockbusters? Atonement is the most recent one and is going on to storm the ocsars and bafta's. But in the bafta's, "This is England" has 2 nominations, the director, Shane Meadows, has been huge within Europe with films like Dead Man's Shoes, but in Britain, doesn't get a look in because his films aren't made with household names.

Back to the thread starter .
Year 10 is a good time to make inroads into your grades for GCSE, use the essays wisely, take all the advice you can on your work and add to it. I was, at the beginning of Year 11, predicted an E for Chemistry, I managed to get a C at the end of the year. It's not impossible, you just need some belief in yourself.

I personally am finding year 10 quite easy, apart from English.

You should try different revision techniques to help yourself.

Like I personally revise with loud music on but that doesn't work for me so just try lots of different things and see what's right for you.

We couldn't take ICT in our school. My favourite subject from all the years before,
