    Ethernet cables are made of copper. Virgin Media's modems are connected to the street via copper cable. It is possible to do around 100Mbps over a phone line using new technologies.

    Indeed, but they currently dont have a modem released that can do more than 45MBps

    Yes but I mean you can't get that speed down copper cables to an exchange generally.
