I think I could probably get in through their interview process, but I'm going to wait until after my exams to try and get in.

Usenet is the best way, enjoy your emails and being disconnected for downloading via torrents.

It depends on what you want. If you get a decent ISP then you don't really need to worry about that second part.

The plus point(s) I see to usenet:

    - Very high speeds, with no uploading/giving back to the community required
    - Awesome pre-times. Once something is available it will be on usenet very quickly.

Negatives to I see to usenet (which is why I use torrents/private trackers over it):

    - It costs money
    - Things get deleted from it after a certain amount of time
    - The files are in rar format (i really get annoyed about having to extract them)
    - Usenet tends to only have scene releases. While these are the first out they are not as good in quality to those releases created by internal release groups in the torrent communities. This is because the scene groups race to be the first to get things out, so use their encoders on speed presets rather than quality, scene releases are sometimes nuked and are just generally rushed.

Internal groups are all about creating the best release possible for a particular media. Thus, the content isn't available anywhere near as soon.

Private trackers contain both the scene releases, usually available within minutes after they appear on usenet along with internal releases so you get the best of both worlds along with it being free .

Also, for music, usenet has nothing on what.cd and waffles.fm.

Ill also support Usenet on this one. No need to worry about seeding, other people seeding, getting invited to trackers, etc. Also able to find everything in FLAC normally (If not, they ill be able to find it in high quality - 320kbps - mp3). Downloads always max out my connection as well.

Go download and share some of the latest music and wait for the letter, I'll just sit here downloading from Usenet all day and not have to worry about who's looking at what I'm downloading, how much upload bandwidth to spare to keep my internet running at a marginally acceptable speed, hit-n-runners leaving torrents dead, stupid quizzes to get into "private (lol)" trackers and ratios to make sure I don't get banned!!!!!!

You cannot win a torrent vs usenet argument if you're on the torrent side, Usenet strengths outweigh torrents 10-1 easily.

Why not, do you download SEX RHIANNA BRITNEY SPEARS PHOTO NUDE.exe? I mean a little common sense here and there works wonders.

Ok, anonymity. A third advantage to usenet. I think that's where the advantages end. I cap my upload at around 90% of my maximum speed and notice a very minimal performance drop of my internet when seeding at this speed. If you are on decent private trackers the hit and runners are banned very quickly and don't come back. I've not noticeably met any hit and runners in my times on them. Why laugh at "private" trackers. I'd love to see you attempt to get into some of them. BitTorrent is a sharing community. If users that didn't maintain a good ratio weren't banned the whole concept just wouldn't work.

The internal release group side and community is a big thing to me. If I'm going to get something then it may as well be the best that it can be.

After all, this is all opinion. If I thought it was worth it I would pay for usenet. Since I don't, I use BitTorrent. Your opinion is in opposition which is why you do the other.

Please describe the strenghts of usenet over BitTorrent. I think the strengths BitTorrent comfortably outweigh those of usenet other than anonymity.
