See my edit. Although I think we're talking about a different scene. Are you on about the scene where Ray blows up the tripod? I'm on about the one where the army blow up the tripod without a shield and it opens up and an alien slides down and dies. Maybe the liquid is part of the tripods because they're kind of living beings themselves. We never got to see the insides of one.

How do you know there was only one alien per pod?

I saw it last night too.

Well, by saw it I mean that I watched the start because I thought it was Day After Tommorow, then muted the rest and watched everybody scream and die.

Looked like a pritty **** film, though.

Yeah thats the scene I was on about. I don't remember the liquid being red though, but if it was it probably was the blood from the humans they harvested. Maybe their machine that turns the blood into veins blew up when the army shot the tripod down, so it all gushed out when it fell.

Well the original is such a typical 50s film. Lots of plot holes and some rather melodramatic acting.
The remake has some of the best cinematography and script I've seen in film and this allows the viewer to get on the same level as the characters. The story line starts well Tom Cruise single and divorced (but doesn't play the typical Hollywood bad parent). The thing i like about Cruise is how his character is always the person he is meant to playing he is not playing himself (some of you may disagree). Then the story leads to the Alien invasion and the starting to where i lose interest. I know the film is about Aliens but i feel the story line for the invasion its self is so boring and should be a bit more like the original film. The part that is worst about the film is when Robbie runs off (because he suddenly wants to be a freedom fighter or something) and Rachel (Dakota Fanning is one of the most annoying actresses and her roll fits her perfectly - screaming, Crying, melodramatic, 9 going on 40 year old) and Ray go into that guys basement only to find he Isn't quite the ticket they wanted to safety.

The story ends well with the bacteria thing because unless you already know the end it is highly doubtful you can guess that was it that beat the Aliens.

    Id give it 5/10

I thought it was pretty good at the cinema but some parts were a bit annoying. The best bit was when they're in the alien cage thing and he throws a grenade up inside the pod .

    I like Ontario's overview.

Haha I so agree. Spielberg is overrated imo.

I wouldn't say he's overrated, he just hasn't lived up to his past over the last decade. Like how he's remaking Oldboy with the most overrated Hollywood actor, Will Smith.

Yeah you're right really I guess.

Haven't heard of that film before, but I love Will Smith .
