No it's fair bragging rights. I paid 3X for this thing I'm going to call it something special.

Or it could be the successful marketing of a good oligopoly, establishing a unique brand, etc. I don't say to my friends, "look how well this operating system is running," I say, "look how well windows 7 runs".
I'm not crazy, ask my toaster.

No because in that case you are describing something more specific, a piece of software explaining to them how good it is so they would need to know the name. In this case it's just a generic device and I always think it comes across as quite arrogant when everyone else says "laptop" and then someone comes along and says "MacBook" because in reality all it is is a laptop.

To be fair some people do it to all their devices, I call my phone my G1, my laptop my MacBook, my old laptop was My Dell, etc.

My Advent PC with Windows 7, Quad Core processor, 2GB RAM and a graphics card. Because it's so damn good it's better than calling it a PC

Well it isn't that expensive tbh... was £20 off ebay I suppose it happens with any expensive thing in life though, not just gadgets. Same with cars, if you have a ferrari you're not going to say you're going to work in your car, you'd say your ferrari.
