It's worth a try, it'd be used more than the chat and if it's free then may as well, at least it'll keep the majority of the people who use the sports forum interested / active.
And 19/24 of the threads on the first page are football threads, the others are 3 to do with one sport on their own, and two cricket threads, obviously not as much demand for them as much as football :rolleyes: Most of the people who post in the other threads are interested in football too.

I don't see why it can't be installed. On the point that Oli was making about not being able to have it like WC, CL, PL etc is that because it's only football or not enough leagues?

For ***** sake though, this is a British (and Irish) forum mainly and you're worried about other nationalities. Football is the main sport that people and correct me if I'm wrong but the majority does tend to win in most things ye. Get some NHL things if you want to please our friends over there. I can't see the problem myself. Do it for just the world cup, it'd be a great tool to spark some discussion and soon after the World Cup it could be got rid of?

Would be used well if you offered prizes, 3month world cup vip for 1st, 2 for 2ndm 1 for 3rd.

You have the option to see which user has the most point per league so they could easily award prizes based on that.

Always points can be based on:

Points for a completely wrong bet
Points for a properly guessed match winner
Points for a correctly guessed match winner and goal difference (Winning team/Losing team)
Points for a exactly guessed match result

It would be a huge shame if its not installed for the world cup. Like I said, takes less than 5 minutes and is very very easy to set up. It can be tested during the World Cup to see how popular it is.

They ask for ideas on how to retain members and attract new ones and this is a fantastic way. The only reason they have for not installing it is "its for the minority". Well what if slowly the football users leave? Forum will be less active. You should offer something unique and this is it.

and for all those saying 'just dont use it', it seems a bit unfair that only the football fans get an addon like this

if it is introduced i personally would be using it im just saying, what about those who dont like football. do they get an update?

I'm not being funny but football is absolutely huge in the UK and europe, where most of the members are from. There wouldnt be much use introducing a system for the 3 fans of baseball or whatever would there? Sure if the fan base is there and on this forum.. but it isnt, and for football it is.

Well, looks like the Sports Forum is going to be short changed YET AGAIN.

This would be used by the whole forum, not just the Sports, especially for the World Cup.

And MattGarner, Oli, why bring the whole 'OH WELL IT WON'T BENEFIT THE FORUMZZ!!!' 'OMGZ WHAT ABOUT OUR YANKEEE AND FOREIGN VISIT0RZZZ', just get a grip. Get into the real world, the whole world watches the Premier League and World Cup and the average teenager knows about the English Premier League.

Actually go and research the background of football, and mainly the World Cup and the Premier League before slating that it wouldn't attract the foreign and non-sports forum users, because it WOULD.

The fact that you won't even try it is just stubborn, it takes no time to install and is easy to implement, and its free, you're just bone idol LAZY.

What was the point in this whole Forum Government Poll thing, where the Rainbow Party won, if none of their policies are going to be implemented.

EDIT - oh, and yes I would support this, however it's not going to happen, because about 20 members who use the Sports Forum always get changed, and to be honest I'm used to it now! and so are others, which is why a lot of us are now becoming more and more less active.
