Its easy for people to deceive you, you shouldn't take what everyone says at face value. Like I said, people would naturally be bias to someone who is related to their employer. As for Facebook pages, I searched a good few pages and didn't come across any which praised Marriott, just the locations of some of the hotels. I feel the need to point out that getting awards and Facebook pages does not necessitate that it is 'more of a family than a job', which is what you stated.

Is that a joke? MOST? EVERY place you stay at should have ******* mugs. Bloody hell.

The Marriott Hotel brand is widely recognised in the American market, rather than the UK Market, with 2,500 hotels in the USA alone, it's understandable that some people may not have heard of them. However Marriott is also in 4th position with the amount of hotels worldwide, behind BestWestern, Intercontinental and Wyndham Worldwide. Marriott being the fourth biggest hotel chain by number of Hotels in the world makes it a very prominent hotel chain and if you mention the name to most people they would have either heard Marriott, or one of the Marriott Brands. Y'all can not say that you've never heard of Ritz-Carlton, or as most people would call it, 'The Ritz'

It's recognized in Asia too. However far from the best chain I've stayed at, they ******* rob you for everything. Although, nowadays I tend to swerve away from luxury hotels and stay more in lodges as I backpack more for a greater time.

It was inevitable that they would raise prices, I can't say I'm surprised as other hotels do the same thing.
