studying this kinda thing in psychology, it's really weird because the matching hypothesis needs you to rate yourself and most people in the class rate themselves as seven whereas someone else might rate them like, 2. lol, it's all to do with positive thinking.

people who have rated themselves as the same number as you are most likely to date you because if they go for someone who is higher they are scared of rejection 8-|

i dont care if any of you read that properly, i just type psychology bits up on here because it helps me revise

no, as in self confidence levels, people may be 'pretty' or whatever but rate themselves a 2 cos they don't think they are, so they'd probably match up better with people who also have low self confidence, as going for people who rate themselves higher, they feel they'll be rejected

I get what you mean, but sometimes beautiful people go for people under their own rating too... Like, some beautiful people genuinely think they're ugly, and others just want to secure a relationship, and also secure not being rejected.

EDIT: Axel you bobba you beat me to it.

yeah but i'm not rating myself really, just saying i'm mostly happy with being average but sometimes i wish i looked like someone else. if i was rating myself i'd probably give myself a 5

DOING GREAT FOR SELF ESTEEM THANKS MYKE, get me paranoid ;l
i'm actually pessimistic and critical of both myself and others but i'm still happy with how i look, although i did say i'm never happy and always want to improve that's more on who i am as a person not really appearance-wise. i like my face and my body, they're far from perfect and i'm probably 4 at best in other peoples standards but I'M more than happy with them so that's all that matters, theres no point worrying about how you look unless you can fix it and there's nothing that i want to fix. some girl with a big nose saved money for ages to get her nose done and got made fun of more as it showed she was obviously bothered by it and she looked more plain imo.

most the "good-looking" girls (fake hair, fake tan, loads of make-up, trashy clothes - scottish guys really go for these kinda things) aren't attractive to me, same as the vain guys that you always get. call me jealous or whatever but they tend to be brainless ******** who only care for looks. yeh 'beautiful' people have more advantages but i'd much rather work with and socialize with someone who's smart and funny. i know who i am and don't feel the need to change that for other people - hence why i'm HAPPIER with my appearance than a lot of people but not necessarily better looking.
i give myself 7 because i don't give in to stupid stuff to make me look more pleasing, i'm happy the way i am... (okay my hair colours fake but that's more for fun than trying to impress)

as for people going below their standards i used to go for jerks when i had low confidence thinking i didn't deserve anyone and rejected good guys because they were too good for me. dw i know better now xo

I guess I'll give myself a 7/10, I know I'm not perfect but there's nothing that really stands out that I really detest about my appearance.
But I'd like to have a more structured face (if that's what people say) like really defined features, and coloured eyes, but that's about it to be honest.
