Laptop usually for keeping programs, music and burning movies etc, desktop for more important things.
I use both and my reason(s) for using them vary on my task.
I have both because:
a) Laptops are more portable and on-the-go.
b) Desktop PCs are far easier to upgrade.

I currently am sporting a laptop, however if I wasn't going to uni in September I would have bought a desktop months ago!
I own both, but only really use my desktop nowadays. I'm on my laptop currently, but this is the first time in a month it's been used, since I built my desktop
