I liked her music but I didn't obsess over it, I still don't see how everyone is calling her a legend and such. They didn't think that before she died so why do it now? Either way she did inspire some other artists. Shame to see her go because of drugs.

i really don't get it when people make comments like this. like just because other people died today doesn't make any other death less important than another - just that everyone can't relate to every individual whose died :S

it's pretty much undisputed that whitney has been seen as a legend/icon within the music industry for a long, long time - like it almost becomes borderline fact and not opinion lol

I meant people who didn't really listen to her before. I know that she's been a major icon to some people. I understand people are starting to listen to her again and taking in how talented she was but still doesn't mean they have to post it all over facebook saying she's a complete legend etc.

it's just a sign of respect really - as not everyone wishes to speak ill of the dead so soon often ones passing. i do see it on my facebook and twitter, where people are saying rip whitney (and the same for when it was michael jackson, etta james, amy winehouse etc.), but i'd rather see people posting their respects about anyone who recently died, rather than nothing at all.

I respect the fact that they are showing concern and just say things like 'rest in peace' but when they write a massive paragraph about how she was a legend and what not irritates me as they probably know at least one song by her. Just spams my facebook and twitter.
