How was it an ass-pull?

She'd had no connection with her spiritual side at all except for that one instance where she had a flashback as the plot demanded it. But my main issue isn't with that. It's with Aang energybending her from beyond the grave to return her bending.

Let's break down a few of the reasons why that shouldn't have happened. Aang appeared as a spirit and it's 100% cannon that spirits cannot bend the elements yet he energybends Korra somehow. A few people are saying that she got her bending back because she went into the Avatar state which counteracts bloodbending as was demonstrated in the flashback. Ok I could maybe deal with that if it was just Korra who got her bending back but she then goes on to magically return everyone's bending specifically using energybending.

Why should energybending undo Amon's technique? No one knows anything about it except that he used bloodbending to do it. If anyone should have been able to undo it after that revelation it should have been Katara.

It was a decent finale and I enjoyed it apart from the last two minutes. The boat scene in particular was great. You have to question whether Noatak or Tarrlok survived because if not then Nickelodeon just got away with showing a murder-suicide on a kids' show at 11:00AM.

Whilst she didn't have any spiritual connection before, that doesn't really matter. All it takes is that one point for it to "click" and that's exactly what happened. This thread explains it pretty well (yet more suicide!). But the thing is, that actually is cannon that he can do that. The only limitation to bending was that it can't be done in the spirit world, not that spirits can't do it. In fact, we see Roku himself in TLA destroying his own temple with bending. He also bends when talking to Aang's first fire bending teacher (Jongjong i think his name was).

As for the repairing the bloodblending with energybending, I took the bloodbending as physically blocking the chakras (as Aang's was unblocked with a physical hit in the finale of TLA, this seems possible), and afaik, energybending is also to do with the chakras and (i assume) (un)blocking them in a spiritual sense. I do agree that Katara should have been able to do something though.

As I said before though, the only thing I didn't enjoy was Makorra, and that's because of how much they screwed over Asami.

Wow, two episodes ago I hated Tarlokk, now I actually feel bad for him. When he glanced at the Equalist gloves on the boat, I honestly thought he would only shock his brother, not kill them both. I can't believe Korra was contemplating suicide at the end, why didn't I see that the first time around. That was pretty dark for a Nick show. I enjoyed the season but again as Chris said, I do not think it is better than the first. Here is to another season, I hope.


ALSO, Iroh is a jet! Once again proving that anyone named Iroh is a badass.

Wow, two episodes ago I hated Tarlokk, now I actually feel bad for him. When he glanced at the Equalist gloves on the boat, I honestly thought he would only shock his brother, not kill them both. I can't believe Korra was contemplating suicide at the end, why didn't I see that the first time around. That was pretty dark for a Nick show. I enjoyed the season but again as Chris said, I do not think it is better than the first. Here is to another season, I hope.

I think it's Nick acknowledging that TLA and LOK has quite a mature viewer base and adding stuff in for them. Naturally their core viewers will just think she was sad but the older will realise the meaning behind the "at your lowest" I felt that it was a really good touch
