Series 6 and 5 right now, in my headbox, are on the same wavelength but I have no idea if it's better or worse. I detest Series Five to the point where I can't watch it without getting annoyed at the small things like Amy Plontdevice and the finale not being a finale. I'm still annoyed with Series 6 since they've already destroyed the character of the Doctor and I laugh reading through my old bloggins and how Smith is playing a Doctor now contempt with what he did wrong. He's moved on and now he's okay with genocide.

    Reminds me of this:

The Doctor's Wife is now one of my favourite episodes of all time, along with Vincent and The Doctor but I'm getting sick of this 'teaser' structure now. Doctor Who is a show about science-fiction mystery and hints towards what's coming down the corridor; Bad Wolf, "There's something on your back.", Mr Saxon. All allowing breathing room to speculate and to enjoy and to talk about. Bad Wolf etc. was never the focus of the show, they were hints, but here the Cracks were on full display, River Song keeps winking and running off, Amy has suddenly dissolved and we're having to hang on, the Silence sort of got genocided and now we're waiting for them to ruin the TARDIS.

Amy Plotdevice has become a strong, strong companion with her now bantering and actually being in with Rory's underwear. The Doctor's relationship with the TARDIS has been cemented and now we have settled, fun characters. I'm enjoying being with them more than Series Five but.... there's still all of those plot and structure problems I still have.

I cannot stress enough how angry I get with some people who say that the Russell T. Davies era was a stupid, stupid kiddies show when (at the end of the day) Doctor Who is made for children. Yes, there was stupid farty monsters and Fear Her and all of those bad days. But then there were Midnights, Family of Bloods, Doomsday, Father's Day, Blink and so on and so forth. It was a show about a mad man in a box having adventures and being shouted at now and then about hints. Now we have a show about a mad man in a box being shouted at that there's going to be monsters around the corner, and then when he gets there to face the monsters, they tell him there's even more around the corner.

Moffat has not ruined the show, I enjoy it and it carries different weight to Davies era. So far, I prefer Davies' Hideo Kojima alike structures, plots and especially characters. I felt more emotion with Davies and with Moffat I feel more... tenseness. It doesn't fit in my mind still given that it's built around continuous escalation and no real pay-off. I want breathing space again.

I'll blog all about Series Six when it's all over a few months from now, but right now, stronger than Series Five perhaps but still the same problems bleeding through.
I won't lie, I do like series 5 and 6 but I do miss Davies. The series "hints" need to be in the middle of what Davies provided and Moffat is providing.

Also at least the pregnancy test makes sense now of why it wasn't decided. **** teaser though.

I just can't agree with that. Stories need to breathe on their own, hence why Gaiman's episode was so strong, stand-alone in pretty much every respect. Zero baggage.

Yes but the linking of some episodes last series was brilliant (such as the doctor in the angels episodes). Something that's pretty big but hard to spot. That's what I want. I want hints which aren't utterly horrid but are also hard to spot. Basically I want the size of Moffats but the secrecy of Davies. I think the hints shouldn't be easy to notice.

Exactly, but it's irritating when we've had giant IS AMY PREGNANT OR NOT? hints at the end of three episodes (Reveal in first, girl in alley in second with test, test in third, eyepatch lady everywhere).

Last year's 'Future Doctor' was great. Very secretive, I wish he'd shown up more though.

Yeah it's too in your face and to be honest, it's a lackluster hint which tells you absolutely nothing really. I can see why it didn't stick to her now but I want hints that people can sort of guess or work out, I don't think anyone guessed Amy was what ever the **** that was.

I agree that the future doctor should have been in it more, and if moffat could do that again somehow then that would be brilliant, thats a hint which isnt obvious but is big. I don't class any davies hints as "big" as they were usually just a couple of words.

Also I'm sure this episode was targetting moral issues. Well animal cruelty (the bit at the end when they're dieing) and, for some reason, I feel that there was a huge moral issue between the normal people and the thingies who have taken their lives, but I cant think what.

The whole 'us vs them' scenario is, I think, the moral issue in that episode and the Doctor shows them that that's not the way. This could be linked with all sorts of things atm. It reminds me most of the dehumanization of Muslims in the media and how people seem to think it's a question of 'liberty vs oppression' when in actual fact it's simply about humans' fear of the unknown.

yeah it must be the sort of segregation for race, as theyre basically saying theyre all the same but the type of things they are (the people and the mould things) is what seperates them. God this has to be the most morally rich doctor who ive seen.

I think it's more along the lines of that old literary tradition of what it means to be human.

If anyone hasn't clicked on yet, The Doctor knows he's going to die.

    They both swapped shoes right.

Flesh Doctor stays in the room.

Normal Doctor who Amy thinks is the Flesh Doctor, she goes on about him dying.
