It'll be a good few years yet before XP stops getting supported imho, it's still being used in schools aswell as Office 2003, as it's simple.

Besides, 98 to XP didn't change that much design wise.

I prefer XP and many more do lol, end of

Windows 7 is much more than a "oversized taskbar"

    Exactly.

XP has been out since 2001 so once 7 is out the support will stop. Just like you can no longer buy XP from retail stores. As far as Microsoft is concerned XP is not supported and soon the applications will stop being supported for it and schools and work envoronments will upgrade to Vista or 7.

A product cannot live forever, there is always an end to everything and XP is at its end of life just like Windows 95, 98 & ME.

I never said I won't stop using it, but I still think it's got a good few years left in it.

Ill be sticking with XP for a long while too. After Windows 7 comes out I dont think companys will just ditch making things XP compatible... it is still the most common operating system as far as I know. That would be a dumb move.

A lot of hardware doesn't have XP support anymore.

Without starting a flame/os war or anything I really dislike (personally) the glossy and 'bulky' look of Windows Vista and Windows 7. I don't know why the borders and titles have to be so thick and transparent.
    That went fast.

You can change them to small

turn transparency off, and make it so it's not icons, but classic bars.

Wow a lot of you are wrong. So many people use Windows XP its insane, and Business don't want to upgrade yet. Why do you think Windows 7 is coming with the downgrade to XP option?

In fact, Microsoft plans to support Windows XP until April 2014.

I knew about this all these options beforehand and still don't like it, thanks for pointing it out though! I don't particularly like the boring Windows 98 window style either, but it is much better than the bulkiness and over-shininess of Windows Vista/7.
