I don't think this would be an excellent idea, because I bet you if I entered the spam forum just once, all the threads will be likewhich would just start getting annoying..

Thats a pretty stupid assrtion, seeing as if people swore that much it would look like that NOW.


People arnt going to sware any more just becuse they can turn the filter off, it just means they see words instead of stars when people do indeed sware. there are plenty of stars in posts anyway.
It would also remove the problem of people avoding the filter since there wouldnt really be any need "/ I still fail to see the downside here...

Pretty much yes, Except the words are filtered out with "@!*" like in a cartoon or something. The Profanity filter is much lighter though than what we have here.

There was also a discussion on this sometime ago about an optional profanity filter, On vBulletin.org. The point made was that censorship is done before posts are entered into the database. Therefore making it hard to make it an option for users, Original discussion on this topic can be found here.

Because there would be numerous immature 11year old's exploiting this, signing up pretending there 16 or w/e and making lots of threads just saying *** ***** ****** *** * ** **** etc.
