I just played this at GameCrazy for about 10 minutes. It's fantastic... FANTASTIC. The controls, graphics, music, everything! ... awesome.

Something that really surprised me in an awesome way were the musical notes you find sometimes. I had seen them on an E3 demo and thought they were pretty meh. Well now, they are totally different. As you collect them, the notes trigger a remixed mario song. If you stop collecting them, it stops playing. If you collect them in a strange order - the song will play in a weird order. It's great and feels really awesome. After you collect them all, you get a 1UP mushroom.

That's just one of the awesome things. Also, the piranha plant miniboss was actually a lot harder than I thought it would be. The first hit is easy and then he really starts to run fast. You have to jump out of the way really quickly, it's pretty intense.
