Option to turn filtered words on/off?

As much as I'd like this to work, it wouldn't, so I'm against this idea I'm afraid. We all saw what happened when "*****" and "piss" were unfiltered, and that took far too long for the novelty to wear off for some people. Suddenly allowing everyone to say anything just by changing an option would basically amount to the same thing as if the site redirected to lemonparty again.

edit: That said, I think a solution may be to allow VIP subforums to be more lenient - allowing the subforum owners to have more control over moderation in their areas and making moderators less aggressive in them would give certain freedoms and allow for more decent usergroups to come up.

IF the filter was allowed to be turned off, guests would not be able to turn it off nor see any swear words unless for some unknown reason the filter isn't picking up swear words which has happened before I believe? Plus they cannot access a User CP where they can turn the filter on and off (which is where the option to turn it off would be placed), So no msb., you do not know what you're saying, especially when people realise you don't know what you're saying and slowly change your story after each post after that :rolleyes: I really do think msb. should be ignored on the forum by default, to save other users from his posts where he is "trying" to be smart and understands what he is talking about... Has no-one noticed he just returned from no where, so really cannot judge on what to do when he wasn't there to see them implicated...



You are here to annoy, you said it in your other thread. You're here for fun and you ARE annoying people. You shouldn't be allowed membership plus shouldn't be apart of these forums if you're just going to have "fun" by pretending you know what you're talking about plus annoying people in the process. Why post a leaving forum when you weren't leaving? Asking for people to vote was stupid, because you weren't planning on leaving, just asking for attention, and most people voted yes to you leaving I believe?

*not logged in* then people may swear in another language besides english, yes they can infract them for breaking a rule for speaking another languge but it will just encourage others to speak in another language to swear.

Actually yes, although it's a hack which Habbox are against. Most things PHP/HTML wise is possible on a forum, it just depends whether or not it is safe. So no, you don't know what you're on about.

True, but when you annoy people by failing to help (like you said) then there's no point joining when your user experience, as well as others' experiences aren't as good as they could be.

From a council point of view (which is no different to any other point of view) it needs to work and needs to be possible to work. I am against this idea, when did I say I was for it? Again, you don't read things and just change your story which is annoying, thus you annoy people.

If the filter was turned off... Why would people swear in another language? If they are guests and they see people writing in a foreign language, how would they know they're swearing? Unless you beleive ALL guests know swear words in every language possible :rolleyes:

We are against people using filtered words. Doing this will simply encourage it because some people will be able to see what the words used are.

You have all seen what people did/are doing when we unfiltered piss and *****. There are so many immature users that simply ruin it for everyone else. We try to make the censor relaxed by giving everyone some sense of freedom, but they use the rope to hang themself with it.

We are a lot more relaxed about the filter on the chat system mainly because the text on there disappears from the screen after a few minutes (which is why it's fine for Habbo to offer an option as the text disappears a few seconds later). On the forum however, the text remains forever for people to read therefore we simply cannot allow users to be exposed to inappropriate language.

Yes but mad, the fact that the user would have agreed to view the filtered words shouldnt give rise to any complaints. Its their decision to see it and i dont see how it would encourage foul language, f people are too immature to see that they are being given more responsibility then just ban them for excessive swearing (temp ban). I wouldnt swear any more or less if their was a filter but it would be nice not to guess what people are trying to say.

Im sure their was something else that i was going to say but oh well.

On the msb. front, i agree. Every post you make seems to be the complete opposite to what the thread is about and is always negative. You disagree with the majority of the forum all the time and you try to be clever by using peoples old names which just looks stupid.
