I'm not a big fan of the rule either, and I think the infraction is used way too often. And yes, you can all comment on how I use it a lot but all I'm doing is what I'm told to do. A lot of people don't even know they're doing it and for the moderator, it's hard to differentiate between sarcasm and trolling, it's just not a practical infraction to give. When I've infracted for trolling, I found that some members were actually quite shocked to have received it which made me think that they didn't actually intend for the post to come across like that. The rule definitely does need altering in my opinion, it's too vague, hard to understand and too harsh. Members are always going to have their disagreements and I personally don't enjoy punishing people for having different opinions when they're only slightly "trolling".

I agree. It's very hard to judge on what is 'trolling'.

LOL. that's pretty ironic as there was a mod that did that only recently, nice one.

it isn't actually, it's not very hard to see who is actually starting & argument & who is joking around.

the reason I made this thread is because not every user is internet savvy, I expect most people will only use this forum, habbo and or runescape where they will not encounted the term "trolling". It is just a lot easier for everyone if you use easy to understand terms instead of expecting them to know internet slang.

I don't see a problem with renaming it to "Posting to start arguments" in all honesty.

I believe someone asked why it isn't in the rules/FAQs. When the Forum Manager role was split into MM and CSM the CS department (thats community support, not counterstrike) were put in charge of keeping all the FAQ pages up to date. Catzsy has been having what sounds like a never ending problem so it kinda hasn't got done.

If the moderators are having trouble themselves with enforcing the rule the issue will be addressed within the department shortly.

Small update, the trolling infraction is now called "Posting to Cause Arguments." Moderators will be briefed to use it where necessary (ie. where its obvious the user is trying to cause an argument).

You mean it will be briefed in the Staff forum where I know what kind of antics you get up to?!

i think there is a fine line between trolling and w.e else you could call it, but i don't see any reason for the rules to be changed
