Chav, Chava or Charva is a slang derogatory term applied to certain young people in the United Kingdom. The stereotypical image of a chav is a white aggressive teen or young adult, of working class background, who wears branded sports and casual clothing (baseball caps are also common) who often fights and engages in petty criminality and are often assumed to be unemployed or in a low paid job. The term may originate from the Romany term "Chavvy", which is a general term for young person. In its English form it is generally derogative and appeared in mainstream dictionaries in 2005.

That was my excuse.. "don't wear jeans coz im playing footy" sounds like a lieeeeee ya see haha

It's just those guys that constantly smokes ****, wear baseball caps (when it's not sunny) etc. Clothes don't matter really, unless you tuck your trousers into your socks, because I have lacoste trainers, trackies etc and I don't class myself as a chav

Chavs can't be defined as those who get involved in petty crime or who get in fights, because people of all shapes, sizes etc can get involved in all of that. Chavs are more the people who go looking for a fight every 2 minutes, when they're sober, just to get a laugh, aswell.

Only problem, imo - is they really do

You get judged, 95% worth, on your clothes. I'd love to agree with you, but reality is that they really do matter - alot.

But yeah what would you class as a chav? :S
It's what you wearing that's why they're saying it... You seriously didn't know that?
