Yeah but Netherlands net run rate will decrease if they are beaten so surely it will be less runs?
It's confusing lol

Nope its more than 48 runs for sure.
Netherland vs England was a close match so England had -0.050 run rate while Netherlands had +0.050.
England won by a very large margin so the net run rate difference was -2.400 for Pakistan and a +2.400 for England, bringing Englands total to +1.175
In the England vs Pakistans match, Englands run rate was an average of 9.25 runs per over.
Pakistans average run rate was 6.85 runs per over.
So basically they do 9.25-6.85 to arrive at 2.4 as the difference. And then thats added to Englands net run rate and taken away from Pakistans.
I hope that explains it all
So Pakistan need to win by a run rate difference of 2.451 or more to get to the Super Eights.
So say Pakistan score 200, they cant let Netherlands score more than 150.
If Pakistan score 150, they cant let Netherlands score more than 100.
If Pakistan score 120 (average a run a ball), they cant let Netherlands score more than 70.
So its fair to say, the minimum difference needs to be around 50 runs.

With that attitude no wonder they aren't winning. Thats just slapping their fans in their face in Pakistan who love cricket.Originally Posted by Younis - Pakistans Captain

The guy reckons coming 4th is good enough.
Thank God India doesnt have that attitude or I would be extremely annoyed.
Anyway heres another article from Cricinfo.com ESPN.
Edited by Catzsy [Forum Moderator]: Thread merged with main stickied thread.Pakistan not only lost to England but they also demoralised their supporters today. In their international return to The Oval, Pakistan produced an insipid performance that now endangers their chances of qualification for the next stage of the tournament.
The major problem for Pakistan supporters is that their team hasn't even come close to winning any of the warm-up matches or the opening encounter against the hosts. It is hard to pinpoint where Pakistan lost this match, as they lost it almost everywhere and every which way they turned. Pakistan, in truth, have looked below par in every department, with the biggest concerns around the fielding and batting.
A lack of ability could be excused but a lack of competitiveness cannot. Pakistan's team has given the appearance of taking this whole tournament too lightly, which is a shock as this is Pakistan's opportunity to remind that world that it is a cricketing power that should not be ignored. On these performances, Pakistan can be easily ignored.
Younis Khan described the tournament as "fun" and something not to be taken too seriously as its main role is to entertain supporters. The miserable expressions of thousands of Pakistan fans in the stadium would beg to differ.
These supporters have been brought up on the bravado of Imran Khan, Javed Miandad, Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, and Inzamam-ul Haq. The current approach of the Pakistan squad and its entourage is an insult to its millions of supporters and their heroic predecessors.
After all, this is a World Cup. Supporters pay to watch at the stadium, via satellite, and on the Internet. They want to see their team win. If not win, they want to see their team battle. Fun comes a poor third in the hierarchy.
Pakistan need to quickly get their priorities right. Even a win against The Netherlands may not now be enough.
Ultimately, though, it is hard to blame the players entirely. When a cricket administration is as hopeless as the PCB has been, how can we expect the players to be impeccable professionals?
A trivial match against The Netherlands has now acquired the flavour of a World Cup Final. Come on Pakistan, show some pride and passion.

Stop making excuses for them.
They were piss poor, and if that's their attitude to cricket, good luck to em.
Btw can you please stop posting all these separate threads? it's cluttering the forum up, their is already a thread to post all this stuff about the T20.
I cannot see a main thread. If there is one perhaps you could link me to it and I will try to get it stickied otherwise there is nothing that prevents members filing separate threads unless it is about the same game/duplicate. Thanks
It does seem to be a bit unfair on the Pakistani supporters to dismiss the T20 in that way.

Okay -thanks. I will request.![]()
I edited my post above.![]()
That was to discuss the match, this thread is talking about their attitude in general.
Do you see just 1 thread for the Premier League? Just one thread when the football world cup is on? No.
And btw the thread I created before this was created BEFORE the thread you linked to, so maybe you need to open your eyes and look at when the threads were posted? So stop accusing me off "cluttering" up the forum when you are just spamming with idiotic posts.
I am not making excuses for them rofl, you, as always are trying to create arguments with me for obvious reasons.
I am just saying their attitude is shameful and because of that they deserved to lose.
How on earth you see that as me making an excuse for them is beyond me because I dont even support the Pakistan team. I really think you lack common sense and feel extremely sorry for you.
I am learning about behaviour in Psychology and yours fits in perfectly with the Behavioural Psychology. You are behaving just as psychologists expect people like you to behave.

It's the same subject, he made that thread so that people would post all about the T20 in it.
