I'm not saying its a bad thing. I'm pleased about everything in the trailer. Although there is one thing I'm a little concerned about. At 0:14 we see a fire nation person blast fire at someone from the earth kingdom. He is getting the fire from a kind of cauldron next to him. In the series people in the fire nation can create fire at will, they don't need to manipulate it from a different source, although they can if they want to. I hope they keep it the same in the movie and don't have it so they can only manipulate fire. Although if they did that it would be easy to beat them, so I guess its safe to assume they're not going in that direction.

One sad bit of news though... the release date was pushed back. Well, for the UK anyway. America still get it at the beginning of July, but we get it in the middle of August. We get it after Germany, after Spain, after Finland, after France, after Australia, after everywhere! We're the second to last country to get the film, just before Sweden. So much for the worldwide release.
Well it'll be like a birthday present then i guess

How can you say that when the Bebop movie hasn't even entered production yet? Absolutely nothing has been released concerning it. It really annoys me how people are boycotting and saying bad things about the Bebop movie when we haven't even seen an image yet, let alone a full cast or even a director attatched to the project. The creator and animation studio of the original series are working cloesly with the film staff, just like in The Last Airbender. I think its safe to say the Bebop movie isn't going to be a half-arsed attempt.

I'm sceptical about Keanu Reeves as Spike, as much as I like the actor himself.

Isn't everyone? I personally think he'll be able to pull it off though. He has the build for it - the height and looks. Plus he is apparently a huge fan of the series and its actually thanks to his enthusiasm and his want to create a live action Bebop that this is actually going ahead, so I think he'll give the role his all.

I'm currently re-watching the series. I'm up to episode 16 of Book 2, so 36 episodes in. Only 25 to go until the end once again. I forgot how awesome Avatar was, but right from the first episode it has been reminding me. I've also come to really love Iroh upon re-watching the series. He was one of my favourite characters the first time I watched it, along with Toph and Zuko, but I think he is a solid favourite now. I also forgot how great a character Aang was, and how funny Sokka is. I don't dislike Katara as much this time either. The movies are going to have a lot to live up to, although I don't expect them to be anywhere near as good as the series. Thats asking way too much. I think I'll come out and say that I think Avatar (a nickelodeon cartoon!) is better than any anime I have seen. I never thought anything could top Gintama, but it really doesn't get better than this.

Come now, are you really so surprised? We both know Avatar is one hell of a show. I feel it offers a lot more than most (if not all) anime does and it is incredibly fresh. There isn't one tiny bit that I feel seemed generic or rehashed. Every episode was packed with excitement and the characters were deep and very well developed. The essence of the story isn't all that amazing - young boy must save the world - but the whole world and culture is, which is what made the story so intriguing. Not only that but it was able to portray emotion and value so unbelievably well, which in my opinion no anime has done without sounding either too forced or too preachy.

It's saying a lot coming from me since even as a child I didn't really like cartoons, instead I was a fan of the old 1960s black and white Bill and Ben the Flower Pot Men and the Edd the Duck puppet character that appeared inbetween shows. I used to watch Edd the Duck and the presenter introduce the cartoons and talk about kids drawings that had been sent in and whatever, then when the cartoons came on I went away and came back once they had finished to see Edd the Duck again. Plus I am a huge fan of anime, but I'm not lying when I say I think Avatar is the best programme I have ever seen.

Chris is right, Avatar really is on par with some of the best anime, despite it being an American cartoon on a channel aimed at kids. Well, in my opinion too, at least. I may have to rewatch it too at some point.
