I'm confused too, do you mean a messenger bag or one of those pouch bags that chavs wear in fake Prada/Gucci from ebay? Google doesn't seem to distinguish between messenger bags, pouch bags and actual handbags for men.

It really depends on the style of it, I was putting some bags away at work and came across a 'man bag', I had to ask about 5 others that I work with as to whether it was a male or female bag..very very funny.
So moral of the story is, if you can't work out what gender the bag is for don't do it!! but anything else should be fine
