    I agree with JB that Dom probably blew the board himself, but that's off the topic of this thread.

    ESET smart security is very good and recommended.

    Or shorting the mobo could skip some resisters or whatever and send excess power to things like RAM?

    I doubt that would be the cause, I've had a few faulty ram sticks before, depends on who you get it from. Considering it's ocz I would go with faulty ram. I've had faulty sticks from them before.
