It would be great if they looked at GTA III again. Some of the locations in that game were great. The sheer-cliff in the third island, and the one story mansion in the first island built into the side of cliff which you can go inside and hide. If they made locations like that, with buildings you can go in with backgrounds and scenery as described surround them, then I'll be happy.

I also liked how in GTA III you purposely attacked the police in one mission when there was a police mens ball. Oh and bringing back the car crusher would be fun, it could be useful to make some income - you take a car, and crush them, incorporated into some side missions that aren't too relevant to the game. There were quite alot of fun missions and locations in that game I found GTA IV to be too dull and boring, but then again it was based on New York, so it wasn't really going to be original anyway :/

Making the radios funny again would be a good idea too. The radio stations in San Andreas are legendary, specifically the adverts

I would prefer to them to redo Vice City, map was brilliant, time setting was brilliant, radio was brilliant. However I do agree San Andraes was amazing. Downloaded it for my 360 like a week ago, do love those old tunes but for funny adverts? GTA IV set the limit, with the razor blade advert "How about frolicle close? Thats not close enough". Just brilliant. GTA IV was depressing but driving to a funeral with hilarious adverts like that. Fantastic.

GTA III was also based on NYC, GTA IV just made it more realistic. I do agree with you on pretty much everything though [also bring back ambulance/fire/taxi missions], as long as they made the maps slightly bigger.

That's exactly my point - those of us who have been playing GTA since it began on PS1 don't want to play the Sims, we just want to drive around and shoot people.

Not completely based off it though, most of it looks as though it was made up. The only NYC based areas seem to of been done on a zone-by-zone basis, for example the north of third and final island was residential much like in GTA IV (and maybe NYC), but the landscape included cliffs and steep hills. The mansions were really the only key feature that resembled GTA IV.

Although I do agree with what someone else said, about Vice City. The map and the missions were good I liked flying around the city in helicopters doing missions, like the one where you infiltrate a mafia hangout or that one where you have to follow that guy in the pink limo. Owning and buying hangouts was kinda fun too, if they did that again it would make it interesting, provided they don't make it a necessity. It also depends on the story too, a Polish immigrant can't really turn into a property developer/owner immediately

    Was me :/

Anyway, I think the character should be an ex-cop, haven't had it yet surprisingly enough.

I'm too lazy to scroll up But a good suggestion I also agree with the ex-cop idea! It's funny they've not done that yet... Maybe the creators of GTA do not want to stray away from immigrants/migrants/secretive people? It would be interesting though, although I can't think of any films or books with ex-cops gone bad :/ Does anyone have an example?

That's pretty much the whole concept of the word 'based'. Anyway there were loads of aspects which vaguely resembled NYC, for example; Central Park, Ground Zero, JFKA.

That's such an unoriginal yet amazing idea. Would just feel like I was playing Driver though.
