This would be because moderators cannot always tell whether the picture is a famous person or a picture of the member. If we are unsure of this, then a PM will be sent to clarify, and all it takes is a PM to clear the whole thing up. If it is a picture of the member, then they are given time to change it.
I agree there are pro's and con's for having/not having them, and the debate seems to have gone on for months. Currently it is a rule, and has to be followed.

my viewpoint seems to be the actual only logical one. im really not bothered anymore as i wont be returning to hxf again 'cos to be quite fair, i hate most of the people and i hate their rules. cya, it's a shame you hxf loses members over petty rules
p.s. close this thread, management obviously don't listen to their members opinions.
bye, you won't really be missed. last time you posted properly was 2months ago, even then you made 7posts in 2months. this just looks like something jake told you to do.my viewpoint seems to be the actual only logical one. im really not bothered anymore as i wont be returning to hxf again 'cos to be quite fair, i hate most of the people and i hate their rules. cya, it's a shame you hxf loses members over petty rules

what the hell is that meant to mean :S
I respect Jakes viewpoint infact I agree with it. I don't give one if you don't want to post your picture as your avatar... At least you would have the choice to.
he will be missed![]()
It seems rather gay, Gay.
We've lived fine with this rule for 6 years now, and I'm sure we can continue living fine with it in the future. Probably a numver of factors such a security, looking professional and the fact that the majority of users won't put themselves as their avatars anyway.

The poll was added to the feedback thread, if you don't believe me then maybe you should check it out and see for yourself. Notices were put up around the forum asking for users views and their vote.
Apparently quite a lot of users don't have as much a problem with our rules as you do. The last month was our busiest in a whole year and we look on track to get even busier. We have been having at least 100 users on during the peak evenings times and often exceed 110 which, given our recent activity problems which we acknowledged, is very good.
Please check the development announcements forum, I think that negates this comment.p.s. close this thread, management obviously don't listen to their members opinions.

I for one, do not believe there is much of a safety risk toward members who post their pictures and as I highlighted before, we do our utmost to protect our members. Nevertheless it was pointed out by a member and agreed by many others that PAPOY poses a safety risk to our users and therefore the opinions in this thread are massively conflicting with a lot of those posted in Richie's thread regarding safety :S.
Further to this the reason we allow pictures of our users in PAPOY is relatively simple. PAPOY restricts where pictures are posted, is therefore easily moderated and keeps everything nice and simple. People can post their pictures if they choose to do so and elsewhere on the forum it is not a worry what someone looks like or whether or not they have posted a picture or not. I feel that if we abolished the rule the forum would become more cliquey with those who have pictures and those who don't, the attractive members and the, shall we say, less attractive members and people of varying ages. This is easy to monitor in PAPOY where it does already happen. In the case of avatars, this spreads throughout the forum.
Again the argument "well every fansite does it" does not do anything for me. We are Habbox, we are unique and we are different. We appeal to users younger and older alike and I have no desire to further delve the forum into the realms of immaturity by introducing a rule which I (and many others) believe, will do just that.
