I find mostly it's more something people feel the need to say, and feel they've done their part by asking, rather than actually wanting a proper answer or explanation, and if they get one they don't care or don't know how to react so it's like..yeah, why bother, only gonna make peeps feels awkward. ♥

All small talk. I don't mind if it is asked by someone who will genuinely give a crap but if it is just small talk then it is pointless.
"So what do you do?", "Where you from?" etc.
