Basically, Home Bargains is owned by TJ Morris, Quality Save isn't, but TJ Morris is the supplier of Quality Save x.

Literally never. Call me a snob if you like - generally embarrassed by the people I have come across in poundland in my local town in the past. I also recognise that a lot of the stuff is cheaper.. but it is smaller - hence the reduced price.

Yeah I'm sure I was watching TV or informed of a programme which looked at the price differences between pound..land(?) and a supermarket chain, and because of the reduction in size it was actually cheaper to shop at the supermarket chain as opposed to the pound store.

That's why I only really buy stuff in there that I can tell hasn't had its size altered (i.e. looking at the volume on drinks).

Indeed, I suspect it was a BBC programme - I rarely watch other channels online.

Was interesting, as you say due to the size reductions and stuff. Also how they put the "actual" good deals at the front of the store - with the majority of the other stuff being little known brands etc.

I was actually talking to my boss about this as they own a pound shop aswell. As an example they could order in say a bag of 6 packets of crisps, each packet being 50g and sell them for 1.50, whilst a much bigger company could go to the producer and say "we want you to make packets of only 35g", so they would then sell a bag of 6 packets of crisps, weighing 35g each, also for 1.50, so people think they're getting a good deal yet they're actually getting less. Also like at christmas, they were selling 10 metre rolls of wrapping paper for 1.50, the other pound shop had them on offer at 3 rolls for 1.50.. only the rolls were only 2 metres long. A lot of the time it's about the way it's advertised, if it seems like it's on offer, it most likely isn't as you get less, just goes to show you need to look at packets more often!!
