Reading through all this and all i think is that you're all blaming him, he shouldn't be blamed 100% because it isn't his fault entirely sometimes when I'm on i see no events on at all the entire day, idk what goes on with events but it is the entire department that is in fault not just one person. Thanks for the time you were their Hayden xx

We have a rule where we HAVE to prebook 3 slots by Monday at 8pm GMT. If the Events Department doesnt have this said rule, I suggest getting it in place because it insures that everone that is active is doing thier job. I went ahead to look at the events for the rest of the week... 0. Thay rule would be a great rule for the department.

Oh, I thought that was what you did anyway.

Motivating people in reality is hard enough, let alone people online.
In my opinion he wasn't really given the chance and for what it's worth, he did a good job. It doesn't help when the majority of your team are away or any of them are resigning on you - let alone it being a holiday period when family should come first.

I hope it isn't because of the still lack of events activity that he got fired, otherwise they didn't give him a fair chance to implement things as the full manager (as much as he was assistant first, sometimes it takes a lil while to adjust). If it was for other reasons then it was still a shame.

I think its damn well insulting that Hayden was demoted just because of a few complaints that doesn't seem justified at all. Its not a surprise he decided to resign.

General Management see a complaint these days and are like "BRING OUT THE GUNS"

I'm guessing Hayden will have received warnings etc relating to what the demotion was about, and I'm hoping there's some kind of warning system in place anyway

Demoting someone to assistant when there's no other management seems ridiculous anyway, as he will have lost no power so it seems more of a publicity stunt to me.

Good luck with your other roles Hayden!

I think the only reason they didn't have him as a full manager, is they wanted to sort out what was going on, and once it was resolved and if there is something to with Hayden, he needs to improve then they will wait till they think he's fully capable to re gain a full manager status!

I think my post may have made it seem I was blaming Hayden, just to clear up:

Hayden was thrown into this pit of rubble that was events, he was expected to rebuild it brick by brick so I have respect hat he at least tried and tried (weren't in the department while he was manager, can't pass judgement). I noticed from the outside, a selection of the department are rude and so fixated in their little events clan that they are incapable of communicating nicely to anyone else, this to me is the main factor of the events department failing. It reminds me of hxl when it was every group for itself, ended up crumbling until we put measures in place to make others feel welcome. I wouldn't want to work in a department where you're an outsider until you have proven your worth to communicate with this little clan.

As I said, events needs ripping back to its bare minimums. It needs new rules, new management and I new system of work. There is no point hiring a manager who is going to go in and just sit on his/her arse copy&pasting warnings to people.

I don't think you understand quite how hard it is to motivate people online. You can give no real incentive to get people to host events if they don't want to do more than cling to the minimum. Like Sophie said, you can have the best manager in the world, but if the body of staff don't want to work then the department is never going to be any good.

I suppose it's difficult for General Management to ever get it right though. If they choose to do nothing in these situations people complain. If they choose to take action people complain. It's a lose-lose situation for them I think

Anyway O/T: thanks for your work Hayden, even if you were only there for a short time. They've lost a good member of staff here.
