Sorry for double post. I ended up installing AWN and I quite like it, although, how do I make it so that the arrow only appears below apps when they are open? lmao.

I use Cairo Dock. It's not open in the shot above, because I was ssh'd into my Ubuntu computer and ran a gnome-session remotely using X11 on OSX. 3d graphics wouldn't work so I couldn't open up a dock.
