The rudder helps the aircraft move left or right on the taxiways and is also used to keep in the centre of the runway. Also used if there is crosswind landings etc. The rudder is hardly to control using the keyboard but joysticks do sometimes have rudder control where you twist it.

no i meant when you only have one engine running you cant control the plane even with the rudder.

sorry to correct, but thats ailerons that is used on taxiways and in centre of the runway.
