I have 2 machines setup at my desk right now. To my far left is my Netbook, with a 19" external monitor. In the center is my primary 24" display, which runs off my 20" iMac to my right (yes, I'm using an iMac as my external monitor). The Netbook is linked to my iMac via Synergy. This means that I only need to use one keyboard and one mouse to control 2 different machines.
Left Monitor 19":
