They seem to like people from the Fires of Pompeii, first Karen now him...
He should do well if the writing is good.

Didn't Freema play the same character in both though?
Capaldi will now have played three different characters to do with Doctor Who in the space of like 6 years. I'm not saying he won't be a good Doctor but I just don't like the fact there's now a huge continuity error. If Jack comes back for anything now it'll just be really awkward....
No, the one in Torchwood was her cousin.Didn't Freema play the same character in both though?

Also, I don't think It'll be much of a problem![]()
It's not the first time. Previous doctor Colin Baker appeared as a main character in an episode before he became the doctor although because of this I wasn't expecting Peter Capaldi to get the role. However I really liked him in Torchwood and he's a bit older which I was wanting. I can see him playing a darker doctor one very different to Matt Smith which is really what is needed.
Sorry I didn't read all the other replies but a quick note on Torchwood. Torchwood and Doctor Who don't seem to follow continuity wise with each other anyways. Look at Miracle Day, no one is dying and it's present day but present day doctor who with Amy and Rory and it's never even mentioned.

He shows promise, I'm looking forward to what he does to the show
Completely agree! I don't count Torchwood being in the same 'Universe' after Children of Earth especially Miracle Day.It's not the first time.
