Why do you hate people for their goals? I'm sure you have goals, maybe to be a famous musician or something, it's all to do with what you like. What they like might well be socialising with lots of people, and as I'm sure you've probably seen/experienced, mass popularity means power with young people, and isn't exactly a bad thing in later life either. The 3/4 emo thing is a bit daft, I'll admit, but people can be what they want to be.

Can someone please tell me what's actually wrong with stereotyping/labelling?

Because it isnt realistic. Socializing with people and completely changing yourself so that you can are two completely different things. Also, people will think thats how real life works. How everything will work out fine as long you have tons of people who like you.

I only hate people who stereotype themselves and act like theyre great, yet once someone else stereotpes them, they go crazy and think its unfair

Adaptation is one of nature's greatest achievements, I don't get why it's so frowned upon in today's society. If someone's happy putting on a front (and many people are) then there's no problem.

Also, people will think thats how real life works. How everything will work out fine as long you have tons of people who like you.

It is how life works in some senses. Having powerful friends makes you powerful by association, which is probably the biggest attractions to popularity - If people like you, you have a certain power over them.

I think I get what you mean by that... You mean people who dress/act/talk in the way a certain subculture/label might, but get annoyed when people label them? I personally think these people are hilarious, and often take it upon myself to humiliate and enrage them by labelling them as often as possible.

Adaption is a force, not something you can chose. And people get the sense that happyness is everything. It actually isnt. Thats probably one of the the greatest lessons from Farenheight 451.

And yes, that is what I meant. For some reason people got the sence that calling yourself something bad is fine, but once someone else does theyre rude.
