Gay people are disliked because there is a lack of information available and a poor education on the subject, and generally, a lot of misconceptions. When it comes down to it, there isn't a problem with gay people. They are attracted to the same gender, not a big issue, just deal with it.
Anyway, about the HIV/AIDs debate. The disease originated in monkeys and subsequently it was passed onto other animals through cuts and open wounds -- infected blood from one animal entered other animals blood stream through open wounds.
The reason it passed onto humans in Africa is due to the fact they work closely with animals, many established tribes still hunt animals as a source of food, for example. If a human had any open wounds, or was attacked by another animal, they would be at risk of picking up the infection through the transfer of infected blood.
There's some chat about it passing from animal to human in Africa through bestiality, but I'd rather not believe that. I believe personally that's just an insult thrown upon African tribesmen due to racial discrimination and the appalling concept that black people are of a "lower class".
HIV/AIDs isn't just a disease singling out gay men and infecting gay men, as many people think. That's a misconception. In fact, the first reported case of the disease in America was a heterosexual male.
It's passed on through transfer of blood or sexual fluids, simple as. Infected blood from an infected person enters the blood stream of a non-infected person. Whether it's passed on through cuts/open wounds, sharing needles during drug use, or sexual intercourse of any kind is another story. It can affect anyone, of any race, life style or belief, fact.
