indie is immense, but i can't really get into much of the american/canadian stuff. i like stuff like the strokes, hot hot heat and tokyo police club, but stuff like the shins just doesn't appeal to me. i prefer british stuff!

british indie all sounds the same [pretty much]. it's an actual sound genre. the strokes are possibly the only american band ever to be more popular in england than in the u.s.

the shins are so incredible the new album was k, but Chutes Too Narrow is srsly amazing. canadian indie seems to be strongest [arcade fire, broken social scene, feist etc], but there's so much diverse american indie. i lovelovelove pretty much all of it.

british = best! i love most british indie (obviously some bands don't take my fancy) but having said that, there are some good american bands. but tokyo police club are awesome!! your english is good is such a tune!! not really keen on the strokes though.

the shins are damn good!! cold war kids, now they're awesome aswell! must admit the gossip are another good american 'indie' band! though they're quite poppy, as with orson (who also are good!), rilo kiley may i add are quality!! and the thermals, i sorta class them as indie-pop but i like what i've heard from them!

tokyo police club are actually canadian, but anyway..! i didn't like "your english is good" so much. their debut LP/EP (not sure which it is, it's only 7 tracks..) - "a lesson in crime" is amazing though.

cold war kids album was alright, nothing groundbreaking. same with the gossip's album. orson are ok, bit poppy. rilo kiley and the thermals i still need to listen to, especially rilo kiley. i keep seeing their name everywhere.

a lot of it does sound the same, but there's also the odd outstanding band who bring something new. and argh the arcade fire!! most overated band ever maybe?! i just don't see the appeal! speaking of overated indie, kings of leon are too in my opinion!

the thermals are pop punk i think. but they're on an indie label.

the thermal's last album was my favorite album of last year. and arcade fire are a bit overrated. i got bored of the new album extremely fast. but the first was an instant classic.

yeah, america/canada basically the same place yeah, 7 tracks is pretty poor - was hoping for a longer album tbh!
i thought cwk's album was amazing. hospital beds, red wine, success! and pregnant all stood out for me. though all the tracks are great! the gossip are good, but i don't know if i'd purchase their album. speaking of albums, finally bought pigeon detectives today (been sold out in tesco for ages!) and it is absolutely great. take her back is just such a tune, the reason i bought it & remains my favourite on the album. rilo kiley - silver lining is just wow. so is the thermals - pillar of salt. both very different songs, but both great.
i haven't heard much arcade fire to comment, but they do get a fair bit of press!! however i personally would say the strokes are overrated (in my opinion) because i can't seem to get into them, whatsoever.

haha, 7 tracks was poor, but i picked it up for 4 quid in the play.com sale a few months back so i'm not complaining. pigeon detectives are amazing! i loved them live, much better than on cd & the lead singer is absolutely nuts! take her back is a tune, but i'm always right is probably my favourite. the strokes are overated, but i still think they're a good band.
