I quite liked my old school uniform. Say what you will about individuality and whatnot, but it did give people a sense of belonging. The sorts of people who we didn't like were people we didn't like because they were absolute losers or because they just looked or smelt funny, but the "chavs" and all the other little groups all got on pretty much. I don't think it infringed on our ability to be ourselves at all, because that showed through our personality or physique anyway.
At college we don't wear uniforms, and to be honest there's hardly any difference. People aren't really segregated by what they wear, it is again whether they're spacky or ugly or whatever. Uniforms are fine really, the problem is that kids these days don't have any respect for any establishments, because they're brought up to be anti-secular, anti-authority brats.
