Kind of has to be questioned as well; why does The Doctor see a monster in a painting and is then compelled to go back in time to find and put everyone (or just Amy) in danger lol

because he's The Doctor and he bloody well can. I think its his adventurer curiousity. He just has to know even if he doesn't need to know.

But it didn't because when they were in the art gallery. the guy who shows people around sais he commited suicide, so TBH it's either the creature basically wouldn't of done anything or a minor screw up from the scripting

Time is in flux, I would guess if the Doctor came back a few days later or maybe just instantly; half the Van Gogh paintings would have disappeared.

That and, well, I think the Doctor would do it anyway. There's a monster in the painting, an actual monster, that could've killed people; maybe he felt compelled to help it. E
